36chhutti.com was started when all of us: Khan (aka Ankit), Mo (aka Mohit), Gangsta (aka Manish), and me Ganja (aka Piyush) got together to work out a new business project.     

 

Khan was awarded The President’s Award for Scouts in 2002.  He got frustrated while doing his BCA and realized that sitting in office and moving memos from the ‘in’ to the ‘out’ basket was ‘simply not working for him’.
Mo doesn’t know things that he has or hasn’t done, does not remember things he has said or hasn’t said.  In short, he is the dumbest buddy around. And ironically the most educated in our team armed with an MBA degree. He dreams of running a Chai-shop somewhere in snowy mountains.

 

Gangsta always wanted expansion not only in business but at the mental, physical and spiritual levels too. An avid mountaineer by choice, adventure runs in his blood. His philosophy of life is simple - Push your limits, discover your own world, and write your own itinerary. He was the one who tied us together in the initial phases of the project when we were busy fighting with each other over - WHAT DO WE DO???

 

So how did we begin? We came up with some real quirky ideas. Some said sell Bangkok, Pattaya packages…some said book flight tickets…some said do everything in travel. Now, that got us into ticking. We zeroed in on having an online travel business. A one-stop-dotcom wherein people could find unique places to go; places they always wanted to visit but never had the time to; places they had heard from people and friends; or places where celebrities love camping. It could be a short break by the riverside for the middle-aged businessman; an idyllic spot in the hills for the honeymooners, weekend fun trips for school children and teachers; or hard-core stuff like freefall base jumping, river rafting, camping, hiking, etc. for those who like to live life on the edge.

 

The cast was set. All of us were gung-ho to take the plunge. And then began our long search to find a suitable name for our Team. We Googled down a list of some domain names that were currently available. We came across names like Tailor-made holidays…24*7Holidays…365Chhutti…and before we could think further, khan broke into a Eureka moment! 36Chhutti! He screamed and we all agreed in unison.

 

So here we are. We wouldn’t call ourselves as a company or as a project, or just any other travel agent selling packages at discounted rates. We are simple happy-go-lucky kinds, who believe in sharing good experiences of places where we have been, places where we have dined, wined, cracked jokes, solved puzzles, and all the interesting things one can think of. We are a group of individuals who love to travel, who love nature, who love to explore, new routes, new destinations, making friends, sharing ideas and experiences. Everything we know about travel is through our peers, friends, relatives and fellow travellers we met on our way. A lot of this stuff you really can’t read about in a book or elsewhere.
